Short Bio
Molly is a doctoral researcher on the DFG-funded project “Construction Pioneers: Building Innovation in Upland Northern Laos.” Her research focuses on the agency of construction workers throughout the notable architectural transformations in the rural uplands of Northern Laos, in collaboration with the project’s PI, Dr. Rosalie Stolz.
Molly completed her Master’s degree in Anthropology in the University of Cork. Her MA thesis highlighted the intersections of local and global market systems in La Paz, Bolivia, through an ethnographic tracing of the ‘social life’ of the coca plant as a heuristic cultural device central to social, spiritual, and economic life in the Andes. Molly is an affiliated scholar of UCC Digital Cluster of the Future Humanities Institute, and of Irish Research Council Laureate-funded project “CyberSocial: Ethnography of the Smart City.” Her research interests include linguistic anthropology, informal economics, material culture and STS.
