Global South Studies Center (GSSC)

The Global South Studies Center (GSSC) at the University of Cologne is an interdisciplinary research center that coordinates the Key Profile Area “Global South Studies”.

Its aim is to strengthen academic perspectives on the Global South and to explore the complex interconnections of global inequalities, cultural dynamics, and social transformations within various thematic areas.

The center fosters exchange between disciplines, researchers and partner institutions worldwide - with a particular focus on collaborations in the Global South. Through joint research projects, teaching initiatives, and events the GSSC contributes to developing new forms of knowledge and actively shaping global dialogs.

The pages of the Global South Studies Center are currently being revised as part of the university’s website relaunch. As a result, content, design, and functionality may be temporarily limited. We appreciate your understanding for any inconvenience this may cause.
