Kris Lane is a professor of history at Tulane University in New Orleans, USA. His specialty is the history of mining in colonial Latin America, but he has also published on the history of piracy and he has co-authored a textbook on global history. He and Claudia Leal are currently co-authoring an environmental history of Latin America from ancient to current times.
