The GSSC's range of activities covers a variety of events:

• In the Public Lecture Series, international and national experts give an insight into their latest research results. Subsequent to each lecture, the GSSC hosts a social gathering offering an opportunity for further discussions between GSSC members and external visitors.
• The GSSC hosts workshops and conferences dealing with a broad range of research topics related to the Global South.
• Focus Global South is a special format of the GSSC that serves as an interface between the university and the wider public. Focus-events pick up current debates related to the Global South in lectures, cultural events or panel discussions which are located not only in but also outside the university.
