Education and professional career

Atiyeh Azarshab is a postdoctoral researcher at the GSSC (University of Cologne), funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Prior to that, she worked for three years as a youth affairs specialist at the Ministry of Sports and Youth in Iran. She hold her PhD, master‘s degree, and bachelor‘s degree in Tehran in the field of anthropology.

Her current focus is on Iran and Persian Gulf countries, including Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates. In these countries, she mainly studies the diaspora of the Baloch ethnic group in areas such as identity, women, media, and more.
