Aderemi Suleiman Ajala is a Professoŕ of Anthropology (Medical) and Development Studies. He teaches Anthropology courses in the Department of Archaeology & Anthropology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He is a recipient of British Academy Fellowship (2006), Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowships (2009-2019), and Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship (2013). As Humboldt fellow he has had research stays at the University of Mainz (2009-2010); Anthropos Institut, Sankt Augustin (August - November 2012); Max Planck Institute of Anthropology, Halle (October- December 2015) and Global South Studies Center, University of Cologne (August-October 2019). He has conducted fieldwork among Ibibio, Nupe, Yoruba  and Fulbe of Nigeria. His current research is among the Fulbe of Southwestern Nigeria. He is the author of "Yoruba nationalism: culture, politics and violence in Southwestern Nigeria" and "Nationalism and Politics in Postcolonial Nigeria". He is currently Editor in Chief of "African Ethnography".
