Felix Rau is Managing Director of the Data Center for the Humanities (DCH) at the University of Cologne. He has studied General Linguistics, Sinology, and Indology at the University of Cologne and has held positions in Cologne and at the University Leiden. In his research, he has focussed on languages from Adivasi groups in India and has conducted extensive fieldwork in India. Since 2012, he has worked on data infrastructures for language data and audio-visual data. Since 2019, he is Managing Director of the DCH and active in several national and international research infrastructure initiatives. In his work, he is particularly involved in preserving and publishing data, with a special emphasis on data from the Global South. He is particularly interested in practical and ethical aspects of working with indigenous groups and his current interest is in the interaction between research methodology and data management.
