Education and professional career
Dr. Happiness Moshi is a researcher at Arusha Climate and Environmental Research Center (ACER), Aga Khan University. Dr. Moshi holds a PhD in Aquatic Environmental Science and Conservation. Her research interest is in environmental and biodiversity conservation, conservation agriculture, ecology, agricultural development, climate resilience food systems, freshwater and marine ecosystems research, public and environmental health. Dr. Moshi is also a lecturer at University of Dar es Salaam where she lectures on environmental, biodiversity conservation and climate related courses.
She is currently engaged in a four-year interdisciplinary project – Medium-Scale Farmers in Rural Africa (MSFRA) – that seeks to understand how the reshaping of Agro-food systems, land markets and power relations resulting from the emergence of medium-scale farmers affect agrarian economies and livelihoods taking case studies of the Mangola Onion farming and Kilombero Valley Floodplain (KVF) rice farming in Tanzania. She is also working on other several projects including: Gap Analysis of Risk Communications for Neglected Tropical Diseases, Climate change Impact on water and Human Health, Climate change impacts on African Great lakes, Role of Citizen Science in Environmental Monitoring and Baseline study on Climate risk and resilience in Northern Tanzania.
