The GSSC was founded by researchers from Urban Geography, History, and Anthropology. These initial researchers were joined by further scientists from other area studies and systematic disciplines. Currently more then 60 members constitute the GSSC.
The center’s central office provides the administrative framework by coordinating and facilitating a wide range of activities, such as research, workshops, conferences, and public lectures.
