Description:
Project INF supports all projects with regard to all issues pertaining to creating and handling research data. It advises on the design of neuro- and psycholinguistic experiments, and corpus and acceptability studies with a special focus on statistics. It also ensures data accountability and sustainability.

SFB1252 B05: Prominence related structures in Austronesian symmetrical voice languages
Description:
This project investigates whether there is evidence for widely attested prominence relations relevant at the syntax-semantics interface (e.g. agentive arguments tend to be more prominent than non-agentive ones) in western Austronesian symmetrical voice languages. These languages challenge the concept of prominence because they exhibit two (or more) equally marked constructions to express transitive eventualities. The project looks at the discourse factors governing these voice alternations, at linear ordering constraints, and at the alternation between the dynamic and the potentive paradigm.

SFB1252 A03: Prosodic prominence in cross-linguistic perspective
Description:
The basic goal of the project is to contribute to a better understanding of the nature of prosodic prominence by asking how languages differ with regard to the phonological organization of prosodic prominence-lending properties. The main concern in the first phase is with so-called phrase accents, i.e. pitch changes which are not anchored to metrically strong syllables, but to the boundary of prosodic units. The project is concerned with a comprehensive account of the cross-linguistically variable phonetic and phonological properties such accents may have and their position in overall prosodic systems. In later stages, the project will also investigate lexical pitch accents from a cross-linguistic point of view.
