Focus Global South

For the Global South Studies Center, activities in the area of Third Mission offer the opportunity to carry the center's research results into society and, conversely, to incorporate currents from society – especially from the Global South – into research. Since its foundation, the GSSC has therefore cooperated intensively with various non-university institutions, from museums and schools to educational institutions, cultural institutions, and the media.

In a specially developed format – Focus Global South – the center brings current research topics to the public and also offers a forum for cultural and political actors from the Global South.

The spectrum of event formats includes lectures, panel discussions, and film contributions, occasionally also cultural events. Topics such as climate change, fair trade, flight, slavery, and migration as well as country-specific developments are addressed and presented to a broad public, preferably in venues outside the university.
