Bennê Oliveira is a Brazilian comic artist with indigenous and Afro-Brazilian roots. She regularly publishes comic strips about politics, everyday life and cultural/identity issues on her Instagram channel leve.mente.insana. She does not shy away from expressing clear criticism of right-wing politics and clearly naming injustices and state violence. She also documents the life of her mother, who, as a domestic worker, belongs to a group that has always been overlooked by Brazilian society and forgotten by history. As part of the event, Bennê will talk about her work, show some of her comics and engage with the audience.
